D.S. Chow was one of the leading men in Hawaii. Then came Master Teacher, Adriano D. Emperado, the founder of the Kajukenbo Self Defense Institute. From the understanding that the Americans fight differently and harder, a lot of techniques had to be corrected. As a result, the Kajukenbo style arose. For the Kajukenbo style to be valid, the stress is on the physical strength in connection with speed, power and perfection. The teachers are convinced that hard training makes them strong. A fighter, who controls art masterfully, will be hard to defeat. It will mainly depend on his individuality and because of hard training, he will develop himself. Kenpo-Karate teaches how one can do and attack by using hands, feet, knees and elbows. Every beat will be executed fastly and precisely. To refuse a fight or go another way is not a sign of cowardice, particularly if one has a lot experience in Kenpo-Karate. Such a refusal is a sign of Respect to humanity, as the idea of Kenpo-Karate is not to make oneself clear to personal danger but to be aware of the high degree of injuries the opponent can impose.

The physical techniques expand the self confidence of a beginner, but when the deeper aspects of the art are studied it will be discovered that self confidence is only a step to humility and self control. Through this expanded knowledge faith and respect are gained. This drives out the fear and avoids quarrel. Humility and self control are his way ( rules his life ), so he does not search for any quarrel, he expects it and is prepared. Speed and vigilance, in combination with ghost and body, are further factors for a longer existence. The founder of this art says: "War and killing are wrong, but it is also wrong not to be prepared to defend yourself. We have no weapons, only our bodies. We have no knives so we make every fist a cudgel. Without spears we must transform every arm to a spear and every open hand to a sword".
