Registration
All participants must be pre-registered. There will be no registrations accepted after 5:00 pm on May 23rd, 2008, regardless of postmarked date.
Mail all registrations to Iron Fist Tae Kwon Do.
Weigh In
All sparring competitors MUST weigh-in Thursday from 6:30pm to 8:00 pm at Iron Fist OR Friday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Radisson Skyview. You will be disqualified if you do not weigh-in.
Fees
Entry Fees MUST accompany the registration package.
- Early registration on or before May 13, 2008, please see individual competitors application forms for entry fees.
- $10.00 late fee for applications received between May 14, 2008 and May 23, 2008. No exceptions.
- No personal cheques accepted, must be a club cheque or money order payable to "2008 Manitoba Open Tae Kwon Do Championships".
- All registration forms received without payment will be returned.
Officiating Referees
Referees interested in officiating at this event please fill out the enclosed application form.
Referees will receive a T-shirt and have lunch provided. Referees are required to attend the 8:00 pm meeting Friday at the Radisson Skyview.
Team Officials
Team officials and individual coaches need to submit an application form and adhere to the same registration deadlines. Proper attire must be worn.
Competition Rules
Current WTF Olympic Competition Rules with the exception of NO FACE KICKS ALLOWED IN THE FOLLOWING DIVISIONS:
- All Color Belts
- Junior Black Belts 13 years and under
Type of Competition
- Single Elimination for color belts
- Double Elimination for all Black Belts and Junior Black Belts 11 yrs and over.
- Junior Black Belts 15-17 yrs old may compete as both Junior and Senior.

Ringmaster scoring systems of PATU with monitor displays
Matches
Ring and match numbers will be posted. A book of draws will be issued to each registered club (one per club).
Match Details
- Junior & Senior - Colored Belts
2 rounds, 1 minute, 30 second rest between rounds
**subject to change - Junior - Black Belts, 11 yrs and older
2 rounds, 2 minutes, 30 second rest between rounds - Senior - Black Belts
3 rounds, 2 minutes, 30 second rest between rounds
** Double Elimination
Weight Categories
Olympic weight divisions.
All sparring competitors MUST weigh in Thursday between 6:30pm and 8:00pm at Iron Fist OR Friday between 7:00pm and 10:00pm at the Radisson to avoid disqualification.
Divisions
- Children’s divisions is 3 years to 15 years old
- Junior Black Belts: 10 & under, 11-13, and 14-17 yrs
- Adults is 16 years and over
- Women’s Senior is 30 years and over
- Men’s Senior division is 30 and over
Equipment
All competitors must wear WTF approved dobuk and safety equipment.
The sparring competitors are responsible for the following MANDATORY equipment:
- headgear and chest protector
- forearm guard and shin guard (instep guard optional)
- groin protector
- mouth guard
The competitor is responsible to provide ALL equipment.
Access Restrictions
Access to the competition area is restricted to:
i) officiating referees
ii) competing athlete
iii) 1 coach per competitor
Protest
FOR BLACK BELT MATCHES ONLY
A written report of the protested match must be prepared by the coach and submitted to the Arbitration Board within 5 minutes of the end of the match, with a protest fee of $100.00 in cash.
Awards
Medals/Trophies for all divisions will be presented at the completion of each division.
Food Service
Concessions in the building will be open.

Out of Province Competitors
Please forward your flight schedules before May 1, 2008
and we will arrange complimentary transportation from the airport. Please call Kate at (204) 229-2838 if you require transportation from hotel and venue.
